Keep it simple when looking for the best board games for 6 year olds.

Look for games that are not too complex and are easy to play. The rules should be relatively easy. And do look for games that don’t require a lot of mathematical skills or reading that may be overly frustrating for your kiddos’ age level. Games can help your child develop important skills, but if it’s not fun, they may be less likely to want to play.

Look for games that help develop or improve skills.

Games are excellent for children to learn a lot of different skills. From cooperation to strategy and practical skills like mathematics, games are perfect for improving or learning new skills.

Make sure the game is age appropriate.

If a game is geared for younger children or those who are a bit older, it may be difficult for your child to enjoy the game. Kiddos may get easily frustrated, so it’s important to look for games that are just right for their age range.

Look for games that involve choice versus the luck of the draw.

Variety is great for children’s games. Some classics may involve the luck of the draw or limited strategy. And, they can be perfect for your collection. But, do consider games that foster a variety of skills, including decision-making, to add to your collection too.

Get your kids involved in picking out games.

When I was a kid, my parents let us build up our board game collection by letting us choose new games ourselves. The perfect way to get your children excited about games is to let them be a part of the decision making process. Make it a family affair.

Look for quality games.

Some of the best games out there are those that have been around for a long time. You probably played them yourself as a child too. Look for well-designed and well-built games that will last a long time and can be played over and over again.

Get inspired.

The goal? To find out who your opponent picked in a series of 24 images. You’ll ask yes and no questions to eliminate characters and finally guess who the person the other player picked.
