Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show may have ended a decade ago, but its legend lives on. Fans continue to adore the endless stories and imagination the series has brought. And no wonder Buffy the Vampire Slayer will never go away – there’s even a new board game! Fans are guaranteed to love the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Board Game. And if you’re a die-hard fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or even any other vampire series, we ensure you that you’ll enjoy this creative game. After all, the legend will never end – stories continue to unlock behind characters.
Opening this Buffy the Vampire Slayer Board game, and playing with a group of friends will take you back to Sunnydale and the tales of the vampire slaying gang. You’ll help Buffy and her friends defend Sunnydale from the countless number of vampires and demons. In addition, you’ll meet your responsibility to stop the ultimate plot – preventing Hellmouth from opening. You’ll have to use every resource – including your other friends and characters like Willow and Spike. You can either do it on your own and you’ll have to use the gang.
Before you start playing the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Board Game, you’ve got to decide what characters you’ll be using. Keep in mind – this board game is for 1 to 6 players. So, you can enter your own character (by yourself) or play with the gang. In the box, the characters included are Buffy, Willow, Angel, Spike, Xander and Giles – the good guys. Then, you’ve got Adam, Mayor Wilkins, Glorificus, The Master, Caleb, and The First Evil – you can easily guess what side they’re on. After you’ve picked your character, you’ll be given four action tokens to use up for each round. These tokens will allow you to do a variety of things – moving or jumping to any location on the board.
The ‘basic fight action’ will allow you to halt some of the vampires and demons, but to truly get rid of them – you’ll have to stack up weapons from the item deck. To get items from the deck, you either draw two random cards or activate the use ability at certain locations. For instance, Sunnydale High will allow you to grab two tomes and The Crypt will give you a plentiful supply of stakes. The tomes can be discarded to draw card from the artifact deck, where you can obtain powerful tools like the Scythe or Faith’s Knife. But, players are limited to three cards at a time. So, you won’t be able to just take a limitless supply of cards or items from the deck.
In addition, you’ll be able to get a ‘Special Action Token’ that can be used to activate a character’s special skill. For instance, Buffy can leap across the board and shut down everything in the area. Willow can discard magic supply cards to destroy vampires and demons. And Angel can draw three artifacts, keep one and place the rest in her deck. No wonder we refer to it as the ‘Special Action Token’ – it’s really a powerful tool for the game.
But, there’s a catch for that special token. Every time the special token is used, an event card must be flipped over. That card will tell you that you have to move new vampire and demons – which will be another obstacle for your and the gang. This one of the reason this board game is so attractive for fans and anyone who loves a good game – it requires strategy and motive-driven techniques. Will you use the token or will you save the time to take out the bad guys? Decisions, decisions. The game will take about 40 minutes for you to face your victory or defeat – but we have no doubt you’ll enjoy every one of those minutes.
This is the publishers’ third attempt at creating a game for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it seems the other options haven’t been as attractive. But, will Buffy the Vampire Slayer Board Game by Jasco Games do the trick? Will it appeal to fans, finally? Will it appeal to you? Well, play the game! You can find it on Amazon for about $32. We hope you enjoy it.
